Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 children from a poor family children who would grow up in the same household, figured out very early how to get out of the difficulties she faced by using her rich and imaginative imagination. Prior to learning how to read or write Dolly Parton had already begun to compose her own songs. At the age of 8years old, she purchased her first electric guitar and began to sing at the Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. In the same year, she recorded her first record on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. Although she was in school, she had already established herself in the local music scene. But her dream was to be able to perform at a much bigger size. She relocated to Nashville the day after graduating in 1964. Her first charting records with Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. The syndicated television show of Porter Wagoner was in need of an additional singer around this time. Parton accepted the role in 1966, was signed to RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in the year 1969. But she resigned from the show in 1974, as her own songs like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were out-charting their collaborations. Parton's hit song, I'll Never Love You (for Wagoner), hit the number. number 1 position after the duo broke up. For the first time, in 1974.
