April Ross

April Ross is one of just a handful of female beach volleyball players who have won medals in more than one Olympics. She is set to compete in Tokyo for her 3rd Olympic gold medal along with Alix Klineman, who is a first time Olympian. Ross will also be hoping for her first Olympic gold. It may well be that it is her last chance, at 39 years old. Still confident, however. Ross declared on NBC Boston: "If we try our best, and even if we just play well, I think we could get the gold medal." It's also going to be the result of luck. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a sister. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of activities while at Newport Harbor High School. As a prep-athlete, she also played indoor volleyball and track. She stood out however during this game. Through her high school years, she was a middle blocker outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court per her bio at the college. To honor her achievements, she received the Gatorade Award for the National Player of 1999. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her due to her volleyball skills. Ross and Klineman formed the partnership in 2017, However, Ross had been a beach-scene celebrity for a long time prior to. She actually won multiple major tournaments in the past with two different partners. among them the volleyball legend. Jennifer Kessy was her partner for six years, between 2007 and 2013. She also coached Klineman as well as herself. Kessy was Ross's partner on the 2009 World Championships. In the 2012 Olympic Games, they received a gold medal. They were beaten out for the gold medal by the legendary group comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings was May-Treanor's replacement after she had retired. They went on to compete for the bronze beach volleyball trophy at Rio Olympics in 2016 along with Walsh Jennings. In high school and the many years before hitting the beach as a professional Ross was a ball with the Trojans of USC as an NCAA. She had a great run during her time in the NCAA tournament. The year 2000 was her freshman year. saw her earn the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of Award and also be named an All-American. The team also saw her help in helping the Trojans get to their first Final Four. Her heart was broken by a personal tragedy during her sophomore years, yet she went on to be an All-American in her second year. The two years following her, she took the Trojans to the top of the mountain and clinched consecutive national championships. In 2003-04, Ross was named the top collegiate female volleyball player in the US according to The Honda Sports Award. Ross took a course in International Relations at USC. Margie Ross never saw her daughter make it to the top in beach volleyball. Ross's mother Margie died in 2001 when Ross was still an USC sophomore. Her breast cancer had been diagnosed. Her mother is still dear. Margie is a beach lover as well as in her everyday life, inspires her.
